i-GATE’s Inaugural Fellows from the University of Oklahoma will be giving a presentation on their research projects titled “Innovation Clusters and Economic Development” and “How Off Shore Capital Repatriation Affects Innovation Hubs”.

Innovation Clusters and Economic Development: i-GATE as a Regional Innovation Magnet
This project identifies i-GATE’s core competencies and scans the regional economic situation to evaluate i-GATE’s role within its economic ecosystem. This analysis encompasses i-GATE’s ability to drive regional economic growth, as well as the merits of a municipality led innovation hub. Finally, the research offers a brief comparison of i-GATE to national economic development trends identified by the White House, the EDA, and academic thought leaders–including Regional Innovation Clusters (RIC’s) and Venture Development Organizations (VDO’s).

How Off Shore Capital Repatriation Affects Innovation Hubs
This research explores the effects of international tax policy on Multi-National Corporations regarding off shore profits. Preempted by conversations in Congress about a repatriation holiday, we provide analysis of the strengths and challenges of incentivizing the repatriation of profits from foreign held subsidiaries by temporarily lowering the tax rate. Since repatriation has a substantial fiscal impact on California and since congresswomen and men from California are spearheading repatriation reform, the research analyzes the impact of repatriation on the state of California, specifically the benefit of innovation hubs.

This event is open to the public. If you would like to attend, please RSVP to Rodelyn Marquez (rodelyn.marquez@igateihub.org). Space is limited.
