Alison P. Buchanan to Speak at State Bar of California 87th Annual Meeting

Hoge Fenton shareholder Alison P. Buchanan will be speaking on two panels at the State Bar’s 87th Annual Meeting in San Diego this September.
First, Alison will moderate “Starting Off on the Right Foot: Addressing Ethics Issues at the Outset,” from 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 12, 2014. The program will cover the ethical considerations relating to initial client intake, scope of representation, and termination of the attorney-client relationship representation.
Later that day, Alison will speak on another panel, “The Ethics of Getting Your Legal Fees Paid,” from 2:15 p.m. – 3:45 p.m. This program will cover the ethical considerations that arise in connection with collecting attorney fees, including issues with retainer agreements, settlement funds, preserving a discharged attorney’s contingency fee, offset issues, and payments involving third parties.
