Ethics: The Estate Planner Roadmap to Navigating Conflicts, November 7, 2013, Course 4, 11:40 a.m. – 12:40 p.m.

Hoge Fenton attorney Alison P. Buchanan will be speaking at the State Bar’s Annual Taxation Conference on the topic of “Ethics: The Estate Planner Roadmap to Navigating Conflicts.”

The program will address the ethical challenges facing estate tax planning professionals in representing multiple family members with interfamily transfers. Discussions will center around potential versus actual conflicts of interest, the use of waivers, and joint or separate representation.

Where Crummy and Other Trust Provisions Go South with SNTs, November 8, 2013, Course 14, 11:35 a.m. – 12:35 p.m.

Also speaking at the conference is Hoge Fenton attorney J. Timothy Maximoff who will speak on the topic of “Where Crummy and Other Trust Provisions Go South with SNTs.”

Utilizing SNTs can be extremely beneficial for certain beneficiaries. These are not without their pitfalls however, as many of the tax provisions do not work with these trusts. The panel will discuss the use and drafting of SNTs, and the tax issues, including income tax. They will also discuss estate and gift tax issues.
