Hoge Fenton, a leading Northern California law firm, is pleased to announce that attorney, Rachel Garcia, has joined the School of Arts and Culture (SOAC) Board. SOAC is the permanent operator of the Mexican Heritage Plaza (MHP), a historical city-owned cultural institution that recently hosted the Vice President of the United States, Kamala Harris.
“I have lived in San Jose for 10 years now and have been looking for ways to better connect with my community and culture,” said Rachel. “I am so thrilled with the opportunity to do just that through board service and participation in such a wonderful organization.”
SOAC|MHP is a place-based cultural institution in East San Jose with 6-acres of programmable space, including a 500-seat theater, pavilion, and plaza. Their mission is to catalyze creativity and empower the community. Entering its second decade, SOAC is committed to a future that centers arts and culture as a means to build power through economic and community development activities. Central to this strategy is the development of La Avenida Cultural District, which will serve as a community anchor that develops a healthy, thriving economic environment for East San José’s historic Mayfair neighborhood.
