Employment Law Seminar – Successfully Employing and Managing a Mobile Workforce
By Hoge Fenton | 09.11.2018 | Speaking Engagements & Firm Events
Increasingly, employees are seeking flexibility in their work schedule and environment. Many employers are meeting these demands by offering remote or “work from home” arrangements. Employers often view this accommodation as a way to remain competitive, retain talent, and potentially reduce expenses associated with maintaining an office for each employee.
Join Hoge Fenton’s Employment Law Team as we explore the various legal issues associated with offering such telecommuting arrangements and the competing factors employers should consider in deciding whether to implement a telecommuting program, including:
- Reimbursable expenses
- Compensable time
- Monitoring meal and rest break compliance
- Workers’ compensation exposure
- “Bring Your Own Device” (BYOD) policies
- Independent Contractor classifications in light of the California Supreme Court’s ruling in Dynamex v. Superior Court
School is back in session, so we will conduct this seminar in classroom workshop style! Be prepared to share your insights and expertise with others. And please submit your remote workforce-related questions in advance to Theresa at theresa.pham@hogefenton.com; we will address your questions in the course of the seminar, and they may form the bases for some of our hypothetical scenarios.
