By Hoge Fenton | 05.24.2022 | DEI

On Friday, May 20th, Hoge Fenton hosted Santa Clara University’s Black Law Student Association (BLSA) Graduation Celebration. The celebration invited BLSA graduates and their loved ones to celebrate their accomplishments and honors faculty and community members who serve as allies to BLSA.

Each graduate was presented with a Kente Graduation Stole as part of the ceremony representing black and African heritage. Each graduate was also. given the opportunity to briefly address one another, their families, and all attendants.

This year’s keynote speaker was Associate Justice to the 6th District Court of Appeals, Charles E. Wilson, who offered words of wisdom and support for the graduates and their families.

The night was filled with laughs, heartfelt tears, and words of encouragement for the fantastic group of students who have navigated law school, virtual learning and took a significant leadership role in addressing racial inequity and hostility at Santa Clara University and within the legal community.

“It is my pleasure to be a part of a firm that values and supports such incredible individuals, and all that they have contributed to our legal community,” said Hoge Fenton Attorney, Lauren Cotton.

Congratulations to all of the BLSA graduates, and good luck with your summer studies for the bar exam!
