Will Mazzota works with property owners, businesses, and real estate developers to help them navigate land use and environmental issues with clarity and confidence. As a member of Hoge Fenton’s Real Estate and Land Use practice group, Will focuses on practical solutions that support their projects, investments, and long‑term goals.
His practice includes advising clients on a wide range of land use and real estate matters, including development approvals and contract disputes. He represents clients in both state and federal courts and approaches each matter with an eye toward efficiency, risk management, and clear communication.
A core component of Will’s experience involves the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA), assisting throughout the environmental review and approval process and representing them in CEQA‑related litigation. Will helps clients understand the regulatory landscape, anticipate potential challenges, and move projects forward as smoothly as possible.
Before joining Hoge Fenton, Will represented public agencies throughout California on land use, real estate, CEQA, environmental law, and inverse condemnation matters. Earlier in his career, he practiced in Tennessee, representing public entities and real estate professionals. This background gives him a balanced perspective on how land use decisions affect both public agencies and private stakeholders.
Those who work with Will appreciate his thoughtful approach, responsiveness, and ability to explain complex legal issues in a straightforward way. He is committed to being a reliable, collaborative advisor who helps clients make informed decisions at every stage of a project or dispute.
Will sits on the board of the Oakland Gay Men’s Chorus, supporting the organization’s mission of giving voice through song to a community where everyone matters. In his free time, Will enjoys exploring California’s natural spaces, spending time with his dogs, and enjoying the Bay Area’s diverse array of restaurants.
