Main Bio

Practice Overview

Heather Boshears advises individuals and couples creating foundational and complex estate plans that address asset transfers, tax considerations, and beneficiary protections through tailored strategies aligned with client goals. She collaborates with CPAs and financial advisors and is well versed in advanced gifting techniques including irrevocable life insurance trusts (ILITs), grantor retained annuity trusts (GRATs), and intentionally defective grantor trusts (IDGTs).

Heather counsels trustees in trust administrations to comply with California and federal law, while remaining mindful of the emotional dynamics that follow a death. She works to resolve disputes outside of court and has handled matters involving creditor claims, breach of fiduciary duties, trustee removal, capacity, undue influence, financial elder abuse, and marital validity.

An active community leader, Heather serves on multiple professional boards, completed Leadership San Jose, and volunteers with the probate division of the Superior Court of California. She supports animal welfare organizations, works with the San Francisco SPCA, and participates in Bay Area running events.

Heather moved to San Francisco at the peak of the dot com boom to join PricewaterhouseCoopers before attending law school full-time.

Heather is a Certified Specialist in estate planning, trust, and probate law by the State Bar of California Board of Legal Specialization. She is a CPA licensed in Colorado.
