Heather Boshears is an experienced associate in the firm’s Estates and Trusts group. She works closely with the firm’s sophisticated clients to prepare comprehensive estate plans, handle post-death administrations, and resolve disputes. Heather also advises her clients in tax matters including estate and gift tax and real property reassessments.
Prior to joining Hoge Fenton, Heather was a trusts and estates associate at Thoits Law in Los Altos where she drafted estate planning documents and petitions to modify and terminate irrevocable trusts. Prior to that she practiced at Fox, Shjeflo, Hartley & Babu LLP in San Mateo where she handled estate planning and administration matters and litigated probate disputes involving accountings, breach of fiduciary duties, suspension and removal of trustees, lack of capacity, undue influence, financial elder abuse, and the validity of marriage.
Heather served in the probate division of the Superior Court of California as an intern in Santa Clara County and as a volunteer research attorney in San Mateo County. There she reviewed petitions and motions, drafted bench memoranda on various probate issues including estates, trusts, guardianships, and conservatorships, prepared the daily probate calendar advising jurists on petitions and motions, and researched and drafted statements of decision for bench trials.
With a decade of experience in accounting and consulting before her legal career, Heather held positions as manager at PricewaterhouseCoopers, the university auditor at San Francisco State University, and management consultant at Northern California Public Broadcasting, Inc. (KQED).

Heather also serves as District Leader for California’s 14th Congressional District for The Humane Society of the U.S.
