Attorney Alison P. Buchanan will speak at the Contra Costa County Bar Association on the topic of “Ethics of Social Media and Attorney Ratings Websites.”
Social media use has become pervasive in the practice of law. This program will explore the intersection between social media use and attorney ethics, including:
- Advertising and the use of attorney rating sites
- Social media as a source of evidence
- Ethically communicating with parties and witnesses
- Maintaining confidentiality and competence
- Avoiding conflicts caused by the inadvertent formation of an attorney-client relationship
The program will also include a discussion of the applicable rules, recent developments and cases, and practical tips for effective risk management
