Program Topic:

Learn about ways to defer paying capital gains taxes by investing in Opportunity Zones and using 1031 exchanges. The 2017 tax law amendments established Opportunity Zones to encourage investing in certain census tracts by deferring or eliminating federal taxes on capital gains on such investments.

Sean Cottle, a real estate lawyer at Hoge Fenton, and James Callejas, a vice president at IPX 1031, will explain Opportunity Zone investments and their benefits and provide an update on 1031 exchanges.
