Roundtable: Trademarks in Regulated Industries, such as Alcohol, Tobacco, Pharmaceuticals and Eco Marks

Knowing and understanding your clients’ business is always important if you want to be an effective adviser, and it is especially important when your client is involved in a regulated industry.

This Roundtable is intended to explore examples of industries that have regulations and/or regulators that impact decisions regarding the selection, clearance and registration of trademarks.

Examples of industry-specific issues include:

• Stringent naming approval process of pharmaceutical products regulated by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA)
• The regulation of food and beverage products by the FDA
• The regulation of alcoholic beverage products by the Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau (TTB)
