Employment Law Seminar – Advanced Leaves of Absence

Complying with leave laws is challenging, and with the recent patchwork of varying state and municipal paid sick leave laws, the landscape has become even more complex. San Francisco, in particular, has become a trend setter for creating new job protected leaves and employee benefits, including SF Paid Parental Leave, which will go into effect in January 2017. In this interactive session, you will learn about the various California, Federal, and San Francisco-specific leaves of absence to which employees are entitled and how to evaluate the interaction between those leaves. Through hypothetical scenarios and Hoge Fenton’s newly-updated Leaves of Absence flow chart, we will help make this complicated area of the law easier to manage.

The focus of this complimentary employment seminar will include:

  • The nuts and bolts of San Francisco’s parental leave, sick leave, and family friendly workplace ordinances
  • Coordination of state, federal and city-specific leave laws (FMLA, CFRA, PDL, WC, SDI, PFL, etc.)
  • How paid sick leave works for employers with multiple offices or remote employees
  • How “reasonable accommodation” requirements under FEHA/ADA can extend job protection beyond FMLA/CFRA

This event is by invitation only — if you’d like to refer someone to attend the event, please contact us first (and more than likely, we would love to have them join us). Thank you!
