Practice Overview

Sara M. Shapero is a member of the firm’s Business Litigation Group and Family Law Group. Sara is an accomplished litigator who has represented clients through all stages of litigation including case preparation and evaluation, discovery, motions, and trials. She has significant experience with trial preparation and has second chaired several trials. Sara also has experience in mediation and has successfully resolved many cases outside of Court involvement.

Prior to joining Hoge Fenton, Sara was an associate attorney at the Law Offices of Kathryn Schlepphorst, a firm concentrating on family and dependency law. Before working at the Law Offices of Kathryn Schlepphorst, Sara clerked for the Santa Clara County Family Court Supervising Judge Susan Bernardini, gaining valuable experience in family law matters. In 2015, she also worked at the Santa Clara County Public Defender’s Office, where she focused on criminal law matters and assisting in the Special Trials Unit.

Background

Sara received her J.D. from Santa Clara University School of Law where she earned the Public Interest and Social Justice Law Certificate. Sara was a member of the Honors Moot Court Negotiations Team, was an Academic Support Program Coordinator, and was a member of the Family Law Society, Criminal Law Society, and Women and Law Society. She also participated in the Katharine and George Alexander Community Law Center, working in the Worker’s Rights Clinic. Sara received the Pro Bono Recognition Award all three years of law school, in part for her volunteer work at Catholic Charities, where she taught civic classes and assisted those seeking U.S. citizenship.
