By Hoge Fenton | 04.27.2015 | Firm Post

Hoge Fenton is proud to announce that attorney David (“Dave”) Mitchell and his wife Lynn Mitchell will receive the Boy Scouts of America’s Distinguished Citizens Award in May. The annual award recognizes those who give their time and talents to improve the quality of life on the San Francisco Peninsula.

Dave and Lynn share a lifetime commitment to volunteering in and supporting their communities. Growing up, both were involved in Scouts. California native Dave became an Eagle Scout in 1951 and was also a member of the Order of the Arrow. Lynn grew up in a family that actively supported community service, including involvement with the United Way and Girl Scouts.

Lynn has served on the board and as president of The Mid-Peninsula YWCA, The Institute of Gender and Research at Stanford, and on the board of The Institute of Transpersonal Psychology. Dave has helped, either as a board member or through pro bono legal services or active volunteering, in numerous community organizations.

With Hoge Fenton for over 20 years, Dave is one of the attorneys instrumental in growing the firm’s tax and estate practice areas. A nationally recognized tax and estate planning attorney, he continues to practice.

Managing shareholder Dan Ballesteros said, “Dave has been an inspiration to all of us at Hoge Fenton through both his professional acumen and his commitment to making his community a better place. He is an excellent role model for us all. We heartily congratulate him and Lynn.”

The award is an annual recognition of those whose contributions have had lasting effects on the Peninsula community. Previous well known recipients include Ronnie Lott and Harris Barton, Jim Cunneen, Quentin Kopp, Becky Morgan and Ted Turner.
