Practice Overview

Peter D. MacDonald handles matters related to land use and real estate law, as well as environmental and municipal law.  He assists his clients with the evaluation of development potential, rezoning, and subdivision.  Additionally, he advises his clients on issues related to the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA), endangered species, and wetlands. 

He works creatively with government officials to know and anticipate the concerns of staff members, policy makers, neighbors, and environmentalists.  He also has the technical background to deal with regulations involving scientific, demographic, mathematical, and/or economical issues.

Professional Activities

Mr. MacDonald serves on the Board of Directors of Valley Community Bank (Chairman, 2002).  He also serves as Vice President of the Board of Directors of the Pleasanton Downtown Association, and is a member of the National Association of Home Builders.  Mr. MacDonald is also a member of the Pleasanton Chamber of Commerce (President, 1992), and the Pleasanton Rotary.

His legal affiliations include the Eastern Alameda County Bar Association (President, 1997) and Bay Area City Attorneys (President, 1984).  He served as Deputy City Attorney and Planning Counsel for the City of Salinas (1977-1982) and as the City Attorney for the City of Pleasanton (1982-1988).
