Mr. Olsen has been in practice for more than 30 years and has earned a solid reputation as one of the area’s leading tax and business law attorneys.  Today, his practice continues to focus on the representation of closely held businesses, as well as professional corporations, franchisors and qualified retirement plans.  He offers legal and tax advice to his clients in the areas of retirement and estate plans and wealth transfer planning.   He advises his clients on ERISA matters, specifically qualified and non-qualified deferred compensation.  Additionally, he provides advice and counsel related to business structures, business acquisitions, sales and leases. 

Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Olsen was a partner in the San Jose law firms of Olsen & Madrid, LLP. and Ferrari Olsen Ottoboni & Bebb.  He has also been recognized by  San Jose Magazine as one of Silicon Valley’s Top Lawyers.

Professional Activities

Mr. Olsen is a member of the State Bar of California and the Santa Clara County Bar Association, as well as a member of both associations’ tax sections.  He has lectured before the Continuing Education of the Bar (CEB), the California CPA Society, the American Society of Pension Actuaries and local CPA and estate planning councils.    For years Mr. Olsen served as an adjunct professor in Golden Gate University’s Masters in Taxation program.  He has also taught at Santa Clara University School of law.
